Microsoft Office Island
As you may know, I Get It! Development has been developing a presence in Second Life, a 3D world entirely imagined and built by its residents.
Microsoft held a major product launch in-world April 26th, 2008. This picture is of one of the three stadiums used to
present the new features in Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, and Visual Studio 2008.
I Get It! Development got ready for the launch by creating MS Office Island - a
part of the main Microsoft island. We placed a number of interactive kiosks with
informational videos and articles around our area and created a presentation pavilion.
This is a picture of the author manning the area during the product launch.
WARNING:
People in Second Life may be far less cool than they appear.
We have also been granted permission to use the Microsoft Island training rooms
for holding our user group meetings. Be sure to log in to Second Life (it's free)
and sign up for our groups to be alerted when we have presentations and meetings.
Meetings are generally held twice in one day to accomodate different time zones.
Currently they are held at 10am and 10pm Pacific time (GMT -8). Please come vist
and participate in the Excel and Access user group meetings!
