Change Page Layout For Part of A
Document
What
do you do when you need to create certain parts of a document in Portrait
view (11 inches high by 8.5 inches wide) and certain parts in landscape (8.5
inches high by 11 inches wide) like the document to the left?
Or maybe you need to make one part of a document regular page view and
another part multiple columns like a newspaper or magazine article?
In order to specify different layout options, you must create separate
sections within your document. Go to Insert, Break… and choose Section break
Next page.

You’ll find that you can now set new properties using Page Setup.

Go and change the section to be in landscape view as shown below. The
first part of your document will remain in portrait while the second changes
to landscape. To change back, just insert another section break and use Page
Setup to change the Orientation of the new section.
To insert a section with multiple columns in it, you can use the type of section
break that continues on the same page. Go to Insert, Break and choose
Continuous.

After you’ve inserted your new break, choose Format, Columns and
choose the number of columns you want. To force the text into
the next column, go to Insert, Break and use Column Break.
|
Your text will immediately go into the next column. Again, when
you’re ready to go back to your standard layout, insert a section
break, go back to Format, Columns and choose just one column. |

That’s a lot of breaks in one short document but we hope it illustrates
the different types in MS Word.
