Custom Application Design
In many companies, employees are forced to do one task in one program,
another task in an entirely different program and then import the results of
both into a third. Then, before the results can be shared with anyone, they are
typically brought into a MS Office program and formatted before distribution!
You can read results from many different databases and data stores directly
from an Access database, Excel worksheet, Word document - even a PowerPoint
presentation!
For a simple example of a custom application,
watch this video.
I Get It! Development makes the software you have do the tasks you need.
Custom Applications allow you to:
- Maximize your use of existing MS Office software
- Eliminate the need for third-party packages
- Exactly mirror your company's processes
- Work in a familiar software environment
Sample Applications
Compensation
Chart Creator
- The Human Resources
department in a division of a large Swiss pharmaceutical company recently
asked
I Get It!® Development to help automate the process of comparing
employee compensation to market pay data. We created charts for all
employee job descriptions with more than four employees. Job descriptions
with more than twenty employees were spread out over multiple charts with
the same scales. See the full article for details.
Telephone Charge-Back Database
- A large school district received telephone billing call details on
several separate CD-ROMs. They had to sort the records by local, local-toll,
directory assistance, and long distance. Then each separate phone number was
assigned to billing code. I Get It! Development created a custom database
application to read the CD-ROMs, assign billing codes and print billing
reports for each department. See the whole story.
-
- Sales
Representative Updater
-
- As a part of a custom-designed training class, I Get It! Development
helped a large medical device company create an application which took raw
data from the company's enterprise reporting package (ERP) and created
itemized reports for each salesperson in the company. The application also
automatically emailed the reports to the individual salespeople! Since the
salespeople wanted the reports daily towards the end of a sales cycle, the
application saved dozens of hours every month!
-
- Return On Investment Sales Tool
-
- Many salespeople find it necessary show prospective clients exactly show
much return they will get for making a particular equipment investment. The
questions are typically: If I buy this system for $X, how much revenue can I
expect to generate? How much money will I save on monthly bills? Over what
period of time will I be able to receive these benefits? Sound like an Excel
spreadsheet problem? I Get It! Development created a simple wizard to walk
clients (and salespeople) through these questions and populate a spreadsheet
with the results. The spreadsheet included a graph to show year-by-year
revenues and cost savings. These results were then placed in a Word template
along with the client's name and prospective purchase information. The
result was a professionally formatted Word document to leave behind with the
customer.
Need
Based Calling
- I Get It! Development integrated SQL Server database with PocketPC phones
and Microsoft Outlook to create an application
that not only helps you keep track of your contacts, but calls them for you
too! You set the parameters for when your contacts should be called and the
phone does the dialing. You can set a rule that a certain client should be
called every 30 days or set a rule that an old friend should be called on
his birthday. Other rules can be based on geographic location or other
database results.
Web Based Real Estate Database
- Paris Real
Estate Finders specializes in finding apartments,
appartements, houses, maison or other single
family housing inside the city limits of Paris, The City of Light. I Get It!
Development designed and implemented a database backend for tracking real
estate requirements and potential customer questions. In addition to
collecting data from potential customers, I Get It! also created code to
help search web listings for real estate matching the customers' requests.
